This course presents a comprehensive, patient-centered aural rehabilitation (AR) approach designed to meet the unique needs of older adults who receive cochlear implants. Current AR models and roles of multidisciplinary team members are reviewed, and case studies are used to demonstrate key components of individualized assessment and treatment, including specific goals and activities, in various settings.

This course discusses the causes of Cancer Related Cognitive Impairments (CRCI) and how CRCI may manifest throughout cancer treatment and survivorship. Additionally, it describes the role of the SLP in the assessment of CRCI, and presents real-world examples of holistic, client-centered interventions for CRCI within the medical setting.

This is Part 2 of a two-part series that will provide SLPs with a solid understanding of why /r/ is a complex phoneme to master, and how to achieve successful remediation. This session will describe metalinguistic cues and elicitation strategies for teaching /r/. Therapy activities that promote generalization will also be discussed.

This course will address real-life scenarios therapists often come across when providing therapy to patients with voice disorders. Best referral practices and risk factors related to occupation and personality will be described. Evidence-based treatment strategies and principles - including for specific populations (e.g., pediatric, geriatric, performers) - are discussed, with particular focus on application of research.

This session will discuss anatomical contributions to /r/’s complexity, its impact on academic performance, and factors that affect therapy outcomes. Differences between non-speech oromotor exercises (NSOME) and skill training for /r/ therapy will also be discussed.

Social distancing and isolation associated with the COVID-10 pandemic have begun to take a toll on patients in residential settings, but SLPs can help mitigate the long-term consequences. This course will discuss the risk factors for and effects of isolation, as well as potential strategies to prevent or reverse pandemic-related cognitive decline.

This Part 2 of a 2-part series focused on functional social communication intervention for grades 7 thru 12 into adulthood. Treatment plans and case studies are presented to highlight techniques for engaging teens & adults in therapy, tips for extending social communication strategies into the classroom, and methods for helping adults overcome social anxiety.

Sensory integration and processing is foundational to human development, engagement and relationships. This course will discuss theories of sensory processing function and dysfunction, potential impact on communication skills, and considerations for SLPs' therapeutic practice.

This 4-hour course will provide a comprehensive overview of assessment and intervention across the TBI recovery continuum, including discussion of the relevant evidence base, treatment approaches as well as strategies for TBI-specific challenges, and provision of family- and client-centered care. Case study application and video analysis will compliment lecture content.

This is Part 1 of a two-part series. This course helped SLPs build a repertoire of social communication intervention strategies and improve functional outcomes with evidence-based treatment plans for students Pre-K to 6th grade. Individual case studies will demonstrate how social communication disorders present in a variety of diagnostic categories. Practical tools for treatment from the therapy room to the classroom - including collaboration with other professionals - will be discussed.
