I really enjoyed this course because all the information that was shared was a true depiction of school-based speech therapy. I think the instructor addressed a lot of different variables of school-based therapy and how those variables may impact the student and/or the session.

The presenter is one of my favorites, and she explains things in a wonderful and detailed way; however, in the case of this particular course, it was interesting to hear about the research, but in many ways, the bottom line is that we don't know all that much about dosage, so there weren't as many applicable takeaways. It was still excellently presented and gave some food for thought.

The course provided clear guidelines for appropriate dosage in school-based speech sound therapy. It emphasized evidence-based strategies, ensuring students receive effective intervention within limited school schedules. Practical examples and case studies illustrated how to balance frequency, intensity, and duration. The structured approach helped make informed decisions for individual student needs, improving therapy outcomes efficiently.

I feel like I know less about this topic than I did when I started, because I didn't realize how little research we have to back up our "100 trials per session" rule of thumb that I have aspired to. (Not a bad thing, though, I feel more informed about what is and is not EBP.)

Ms. Farquharson hit a sweet spot with this study - and I hope to hear of the results of her further studies into dosage in schools. So grateful to hear that a researcher is conducting research in a real life setting - and the results are fascinating! My jaw hit the floor when she reported that individual sessions had an INVERSE relation with percent consonants correct gain! Keep up the good work, and thank you for the help in best knowing and understanding how to help our students!

As a seasoned SLP (>20 years) I felt that this course may have been classified as begininning level. I felt like there was repetitiveness and stating too much of the "how" this was done, and research design vs focusing on research outcomes and inferencing from that for current and future design based on unanswered questions. I did enjoy hearing more about the impact of dosage and findngs as this has been an unearthed research topic with the usual variables.

The course confirmed my observations that 'dosage' decreases with increase of group size. She documented what is happening currently in school therapy sessions. I will continue to strive to get the most 'dosage' in, but will no longer beat myself over the head for not getting over a 100 trials in every session when I'm dealing with large groups. The information shared was also a good overview and review of therapy approaches.

I found this session fascinating, but because the research is so new - it did not give me anything to use in my actual practice. We just don't know about dosage, but yet we want to say it is the most important factor. I am still conflicted on best practices to run a speech sound disorder therapy session in the schools.

I appreciate the information that came out of this study in giving a bit more clarification on the number of trials that are typically happening in therapy sessions. I feel like the "recommended" range I have heard from various workshops is perhaps not very realistic and does not take into account the reality of a school-based SLP's practice. I really appreciate that the presenter has herself worked in the schools and is realistic and advocating for those of us on the ground.
