It was a great course if you are having difficult IEP meetings. It is a misleading title though because I thought the course would be about having to talk to parents about difficult diagnoses or referrals, or helping parents in denial. I thought the course would be about difficult conversations in the therapeutic setting. The title should change so people know it is really only about IEP meetings. I do not work in a school setting and would not have taken it.

The instructor's personal insight as a mother of a child who needed medical care and multiple therapies were appreciated. It can be difficult when there is conflict working with families and having a plan and specific steps to ensure open dialogue where everyone feels heard and respected, is essential. I believe that the topic is multidimensional, insofar that it has application for peer-to-peer—especially in a field that is over 95 percent female. The background material and content was relevant and was a good refresher from my first seminar on emotional intelligence. I am late in my career and It has been helpful for me to change my expectations rather than lower them among peers. This course would be beneficial for those who may struggle with self-awareness, trust, respect, and inclusion.
