Co-occurring Communication and Developmental Coordination Disorder
Presented by Jenya Iuzzini-Seigel, PhD, CCC-SLP
Live WebinarTue, Jan 27, 2026 at 3:00 pm EST
Course: #11399Level: Introductory1.5 Hours
Research shows that ~80% of children with childhood apraxia of speech (CAS) demonstrate fine and gross motor impairments and ~60% have motor impairments severe enough to diagnose developmental coordination disorder (DCD). DCD is a neurodevelopmental motor disorder that affects activities of daily living, academic and vocational success, leisure activities and long-term physical and mental health. Unfortunately, despite the challenging consequences DCD can have, it goes undiagnosed in a high percentage of children with CAS. Failure to diagnose means failure to treat. Come learn about DCD to elevate your ability to care for the whole child and increase the identification of motor deficits for the children on your caseload. Learn about the diagnostic criteria for a DCD diagnosis, watch video case studies, and understand when you should make a referral.
