Differential diagnosis of childhood apraxia of speech (CAS) and other speech sound disorders (SSDs) can be challenging. This course goes through the steps of the differential diagnosis process so you can feel confident in determining whether a child is showing phonological patterns or motor speech features and if a motor speech disorder is present, what type. Videos are shown to practice identification of auditory-perceptual features of CAS and dysarthria and interpretation of motor speech profiles. Case studies are included for additional practice.

Jenya Iuzzini-Seigel, PhD, CCC-SLP is Associate Professor of Speech Pathology and Audiology and Director of the Communication, Movement and Learning Lab at Marquette University. Her research centers on the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric communication disorders with a specific interest in CAS, dysarthria, and developmental language disorder.
