Cultural And Linguistic Diversity CEU Courses for SLPs

Implicit Bias training is an important first step in understanding the complexities of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging in healthcare. This course covers what Implicit Biases are, how they develop, their impacts on health professionals and their work, and interventions health practitioners can do to address them.

Culture and spirituality are two of the most significant factors that influence the therapist-client relationship and the outcomes of the therapy process. This course examines the aspects of culture and spirituality that are frequently not discussed but help the therapy practitioner understand, relate to, and serve the client more effectively, resulting in better outcomes. It includes discussion of the HOPE questionnaire to assess spirituality.

This course discusses Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, and Asexual (LGBTQIA+) health disparities, demographics, and terminology, as well as key strategies for bringing high-quality care to LGBTQIA+ people at health centers and other health care organizations. Inclusive and effective communication with LGBTQIA+ patients is also addressed.

This course provides information regarding some of the barriers that minorities face in the healthcare setting. It also discusses ideas for improving patient-centered care for diverse populations, and for supporting coworkers of diverse backgrounds.
