This course examines the aspects of culture and spirituality that are frequently not discussed but help the therapy practitioner understand, relate to, and serve the client more effectively, resulting in better outcomes. It includes discussion of the HOPE questionnaire to assess spirituality.

Dr. Scott Wengerd is an occupational therapist and serves as an Assistant Professor of Occupational Therapy at Arkansas Colleges of Health Education in Fort Smith, AR, in the School of Occupational Therapy. Dr. Wengerd has practiced OT for over 25 years, working in a variety of settings including hospital inpatient and outpatient, rehab, SNF, and home health. Dr. Wengerd lives in rural Oklahoma and much of his practice has consisted of serving people in underserved areas. Dr. Wengerd is also an ordained minister.
