Outstanding presenter and presentation on the importance of Play. A great multi-level course with terrific information and very organized. It reinforces and supports the idea that employing a holistic concept to planning therapy sessions. Not only is it important information but she actually provides evidence/research on the benefits to clients. Showcasing the importance of play can be very important for therapy and assessment for SLPs. The presenter’s therapy/clinical experience are revealed through the multiple sessions and provide such valuable insight from her clinical experiences . I loved how it showed that SLPs really need to take a holistic approach to therapy. I also really enjoyed seeing how other professionals such as OTs and PTs could get involved to do a task analysis. Lastly I loved how it showed that many students with ID/autism/other special needs are not always displaying maladaptive behaviors; As professionals we have to dig a little deeper to be able to know what's really going on so that we will have a better idea of how to best help the child.

Lisa's honesty about her experience and what she has learned about the importance of thinking about this from the child's perspective, rather than from an adult's perspective. Dr. Audet was extremely thorough, provided logical, evidence-based connections between developmental milestones, using play as a tool for assessment, using play to encourage language development appropriately (based upon other demands activities place on our clients), and using narratives/discourse as a tool to assess language level and then plan accordingly for interventions using narratives/discourse.
