Challenging ideas. provides clarity within the big picture of supporting kids with EF challenges through language instruction in school. Additional implications are present for writing instruction; we ask kids to run before they can walk regarding writing, when we do not provide enough instruction in areas such as syntax and spelling, which leads to anxiety around the writing process, and reduced sentence level output.

Wonderful course on how language difficulties impact and influence executive functioning skills such as planning and reasoning. Especially helpful was the detailed information on specific components of syntactic constructs that are most affected by decreased language and cognitive processes. Also hugely helpful was learning about the 'essential 5' targets and the recommended Phases 1-3 on how to target language versus executive functioning.

Excellent and important theoretical information. After hearing this presentation, I'm not clear on the specifics of HOW I can implement this information. How might I use youtube videos or online story books for instruction and practice opportunities? There were no examples or demonstrations of HOW and which materials to provide direct instruction and extensive practice opportunities. How can I use the resouces I have on hand to immediately take this information and "use it in my therapy"

The content was important, but it was difficult to follow as the presenter was discussing high level topics often times without examples. At times, I wasn't quite sure what she was attempting to explain and she did not give examples to increase comprehension. The slides were organized and informative, but it would have helped (and been more interesting and meaningful) if she had used examples directly from therapy sessions.
