Most info, other than ACES, was new for me. "You are the intervention" is a great quote and summary statement. I liked not just the deeper understanding of trauma as a whole and impact on behavior and learning, but also the emphasis on a need for personal reflection and awareness of our own triggers, and keeping ourselves well regulated to protect our health and well-being and show up better for clients. I was aware of trauma in students in my work, but not all the signs.

Nicole is an excellent speaker and did a great job of explaining each point. I loved that she gave examples and how they fit into our daily work. As an SLP, I see lots of kids with trauma but learning about it is not a part of our education. After this course, I can see how important this is and am going to seek out more information as well as other courses Nicole has given. I plan on sharing this course with my boss and colleagues.

I feel that some of the questions on the quiz were odd. Many of them had incredibly similar answer choices, such as the ones about self regulation and the overall definition of trauma. For example, trauma can be a distressing event, but I believe it can also be something that physically harms you or emotionally harms you, like a car accident. For example, a car accident is 1. Distressing 2. Usually Physically Damaging to the body in some way, and 3. has potential for Emotional Damage.
