I would love to have Parts 1 and 2 of this course available to present to parents and teachers. Parents especially have no idea how screen usage is impacting their children's learning. I especially love the information provided regarding the use of screens educationally and how we should revert to paper versus screens whenever we can.

This course was excellent because it presented clear, up-to-date evidence on how screen use affects reading comprehension and learning in children. It critically compared digital media with printed materials, challenged common myths about “educational” apps, and provided practical strategies such as co-viewing to support language development and comprehension in real-life contexts.

This course was excellent because it provided clear, research-based guidance on how screen time affects children's learning and development. It offered practical strategies like co-viewing and setting boundaries, making the content highly applicable for both families and professionals. The emphasis on quality over quantity of screen use was especially valuable.

The content. I am SO HAPPY someone is talking about this!!! I read a book by Jane Healy called Endangered Minds (published in 1990) probably ten to twelve years ago which stuck with me and inspired me to voraciously consume similar reading content. Meanwhile, our new superintendent was succeeding in his mission to "digify" our district. He even removed the paper book library in our elementary school. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I appreciated the emphasis on how important it is to build underlying foundational language, play and executive functioning skills before switching learning to tech. I appreciated the "pithy" advice for parents. The instructor had some cute ways of phrasing things to parents that would prompt thought and reflection, without coming across as "preachy" or impractical. I was especially taken by the question "what does educational down time look like today". It really made me think!

I am very passionate about literacy. I use books in almost all of my speech sessions with kids, encourage library and park visitation, and demonstrate how parents can effectively read to their kids and extend the story into their real lives. I am thrilled to have a robust collection of studies and data from the CDC and AAP to reinforce these practices. I appreciate the extra tools and insights you have provided, and will be sharing this information with my colleagues in the school setting.

Very informative in relating how screen time is so detrimental, with excellent suggestions for consulting and sharing. It is interrupting the foundation of communication skills which predicts reading ability. The amount of screen time in the schools is not beneficial to brain development and learning. Executive function, conversation, and play need to be assessed.
