It validated what I "feel" is occurring in our world. There were too many percentages to keep track of but the instructors inflection and engagement made the presentation entertaining. I find this topic SO interesting and vital in this "screen time" world. There are pros and cons but it is essential for our population to understand the impact screens at such an early age impact not only language, but future emotions and attitudes.

The statistics presented were very eye opening and made me more aware of the use of screens not only with my students, but with my own children. Working as an SLP, I have seen the effects of excessive screen use become more significant every year and wish that this course could be taken by every parent and service provider.

The data of the affect of the Covid years on language development was amazing to see, though I have experienced it in my students who were learning to read during that time. Play is so important to preschoolers, this presentation certainly showed that.

I am an EI speech pathologist. I will most definitely use the information that I learned from this one hour in my educational conversations with the parents of the toddlers that I work with. And, increase teaching them (the parents ) how to play and be "present" for their children. More than I am doing now and that is a LOT!

FANTASTIC!!! I have worked as an SLP in the school setting for 20 years. I have seen first hand the negative impact of screen time (not only by children, but as you stated their parents and overall their overall presence). The data collected profoundly speaks to the effects we see daily. I look forward to Part 2.

This course was such a great recharge and reminder of the importance of foundational skills, such as playing, especially in this increasingly “entertain me” climate and culture. I have always believed that play was an extremely important part of assessing language comprehension, vocabulary skills and executive function in early language learners. The fact that she presented a variety of statistics that demonstrate a clear correlation between excess screen time (even educational programs) and significant delays in communication skills is quite troubling. This information should be provided to parents, making them aware of the need to severely limit screen time.

This was a great course. I see the impacts of excessive screen time everyday. But this not only happens at home, it happens throughout the academic setting as well.
