I like the structure of the presentation and the demonstration and breakdown of what a word journal looks like. I also liked the incorporation of evidence-based information to showcase where the techniques came from. With these types of techniques, it can be very crucial to have a demonstration of how the technique is used with a client/student. What is the starting point and how do we progress? How can this be incorporated into sessions with multiple students at the school setting.

A lot of foundational therory & academic references, but limited opportunities to understand how this tool would be functionally used in a therapy session. Students in this research (age?) must be atypical from those I serve, because in 20+ years of treating elem., MS and HS students w/ language needs on their IEPs, I can't recall one w/ the attention & analytical skills this tool would require. Maybe demonstrate how you'd actually teach this tool with typical students, to increase understanding

I am so excited to have found this course, for early intervention for my third grade dyslexic student, who has made excellent progress with reading fluency, comprehension, phonics, and writing skills over the past two years. Unfortunately,, her spelling is still solidly sound based. Now we have an early opportunity to use the information, concepts, and tools given to better prepare her for middle school years! Our goal is "robost"!

I appreciate the attempt to summarize this information in an hour! The suffixing flowcharts were also very helpful! I gave four stars because I did not leave with a firm grasp on what age to start creating these journals and which elements to include first. It would be helpful to have a suggested list by grade level or a place to find a general scope and sequence to follow as we work with students (if there is one).
