This course was excellent because it provided a deep, research-based understanding of Structured Word Inquiry and Structured Literacy. It emphasized the connections between morphology, spelling, and meaning, while offering practical tools like word matrices and word journals. The hands-on, inquiry-based approach made complex concepts accessible and immediately applicable for both educators and students.

This was a very insightful course of study. I like the idea of incorporating journals that our students can refer back to and use in various activities throughout the year. Core words are important when incorporating activities to reinforce what classroom teachers are teaching. Helping students learn the construct if you would of words used and learned can enlighten students to increase understanding when using words in a sentence, paragraphs or short stories. Thanks

Dr. Collins was one of my professors in graduate school. It was fun learning from her again! I have a lot of secondary students this year and a goal is to create functional goals that target independent expansion of their vocabularies. This is difficult to do but word journals may be a systematic way of tracking progress. I will try to incorporate more of this in my goal writing and therapy planning.
