I currently do not have any EL students. We are a very rural and small school district, so it is not often that we have ELLs. However, because I do not get regular practice within this area, it is an area that I am unfamiliar with. And, it is always changing. It is always good to have a refresher on this topic. Especially in relation to ethics. In small schools especially, sometimes admin will try to 'get away' with scenarios like Cam's case study.

This course was perfect for a SLP who is just beginning to provide services for students that are mulit-lingual. I have been providing services such as this for about 4 years now and had a pretty good working knowledge of some of the basic information (when, why and how to use an interpreter). The concepts, definitions, review of laws and case studies were all informative and I will use this information as I proceed forward in providing services.

I think that because there was no video of the presenter, it made it harder to process the information. It was unclear for the case study what type of "assessment" was being given, especially since the child had not been in a "school" setting for more than a year. Why would an SLP be involved, and not an ESOL teacher?
