I understand movement and a combination of traditional learning makes for children to get better with their reading skills, both neuro challengedand non -neuro challenged children. I've seen many instances of what is described in this lecture as of my previous years in the field.

I have already implemented a great deal of print and early literacy activities into my therapy over time, so some of this information wasn't necessarily a new idea to me, but I love Kelly's ideas and I love that she gives me specific tidbits that I can use and information/research to help me explain my practices as well. Thank you!

I love when we include all facets of learning sound/reading and the all encompassing of what that means for our little learners. I am also a HUGE fan of Laura Justice work! This is a fabulous training, one that not only speech therapist should see but those Early Childhood Educators to get a better understanding of what do and what they could do!

The course had some interesting ideas for intervention activities but it wasn’t focused on print knowledge and also the instructor didn’t have a strong grasp of the concepts she was teaching (I.e. it’s the Matthew effect not the Matthew’s effect). It also seemed like all of her experience had been with kids and schools with higher socio-economic levels.

I really liked the way she explained her activity and modifications of that activity to work with all 50 kids on her caseload. I think this was well explained and is a really good idea in terms of time management. I had a concern that the presenter didn't seem to distinguish between concepts about print, phonology and phonics. Also, I noticed that Marie Clay wasn't referenced, and I believe she is the person who developed the term and meaning of concepts about print.
