My building utilizes a co-teaching model. For one year, we did so in grades K-4 (the entire building) but now we do so in grades K-2. We found it very challenging in grades 3 and 4 to meet all of the special education minutes and address all of the social/emotional/behavioral needs of the students when the special ed teachers were in the gen ed classrooms for so much of the day. I have knowledge of these models but find it difficult to implement with my large caseload and so many classrooms.

This was a great course. My colleague and I are in a unique situation where we come in to a private school 2 days per week to work with students with speech and language needs. We do the traditional pullout and because we are not in the school full time, we have little opportunity to truly collaborate with classroom teachers. This course has inspired me to continue to try to engage with teachers as much as possible, even if we can't be in the classroom, and to use curriculum material.

I enjoyed learning about the various types of collaboration that can be done within a school setting and how we can help students generalize skills in therapy, the classroom and at home.

This course provided some excellent background on different collaborative approaches for integrated/"push-in" therapy practices. I loved seeing the different applications for collaborative therapy and understanding both the SLP and teacher roles in this process. I would love more information on how to incorporate this at the high-school level as there is a lot more independent learning in a very quiet environment within my district.

I appreciated the actual way to teach the vocabulary with visuals as well as how to have the students have access to the taught vocabulary on a ring for referencing when needed when the SLP or teacher are not available to define the words again. I also liked how the course started with how to collaborate with general education teachers. That is not something that was fully taught in graduate school and was not explicitly taught or modeled during our internships/CF year.
