information about how to assess older student's grammar and syntax

The questions answered really built off of each other and were organized in a way that made a lot of sense. As a high school SLP, it is helpful to learn about what to consider during evaluations and about how grammar and syntax is involved across many aspects of communication.

I love the 20q format and how much information presenters provide. This 20q provides important information for SLPs working with older children. Would definitely love a part two from Monica Gordon-Pershey.

The area of school language and SLP's intertwine. This course is extremely helpful in understanding these overlaps, thus providing SLPs with better tools to know when to step in and advocate for SLP services. When I worked in the schools, this was problematic. Many times the child was given resource minutes and the goals did not align with what I had found for their underlying language difficulties.

The information in this article is great! However, it is challenging to understand. I had to reread each paragraph a few times (and look up/research some of the vocabulary).

This course was not excellent. It has a lot of technical information and perspective, which is good. I think this would have been a much more effective course in a good old-fashioned "conference style" format, complete with an actual speaker and visuals such as charts, tables and examples. Anyone can sit and read through dry technical information and look for quiz answers within the course. I did not come out of this thinking of ways to change my approach to grammar and school age kids.

I felt the information was interesting, and I did learn something new, as I had never heard of "grammatical categories." That being said, I felt the information was not very helpful for providing assessment or treatment of my students with syntactic needs (I work in a high school with Resource and Instructional students in a school setting). I don't really know what is most important or where to start. If I take the time to do a t-unit analysis, what exactly do I do with that information?

The question-answer format of the course content made it easy to follow. I now have better understanding of T-Unit and C-Unit measures and how grammatical categories impact academic performance. The content could have been written with more clarity and simplicity. I found it difficult to read. I was expecting more detailed information on individual and inclusive approaches for improving grammar and syntax in older school-aged children.
