I appreciate the aspect that was discussed about dialect and its effect on young children who then may struggle with grammar and syntax. I, in fact, have a young child with dyslexia whose struggles are compounded by the dialectal differences he encounters with his family, that has a strong Texas dialect.

I think that the resources for articles is always helpful; however, I'm looking for more concrete ways to improve my practice. For instance, specific tools (assessment, therapy etc.) and examples provided. This is a great course for people in grad school who are looking to learn the basics. I would prefer to be given more specific information in detail. I realize this may have not been the purpose of the course, but it is often what SLPs are searching for when taking CEUs.

Being that I work with students older than the Brown's grammatical morpheme table, I feel more assured in my approaches to identify syntactic abnormalities of older children who may be using correct pronouns and prepositions listed from Brown.
