This course was excellent because it clearly highlighted the vital role SLPs play in supporting language and literacy across the curriculum. It provided practical, research-based strategies that connect oral and written language, emphasized educational relevance, and encouraged collaboration with educators. The focus on using tools like children's literature and wordless books made the content easy to apply in real-world settings.

The most important thing that I think made this excellent was that the strategies and theories behind this article validated much of the work I am already doing with students. Sometimes, it is easy for SLPS to question whether we are really being all that effective or if we are efficient in targeting goals, but this article showed how much of what many of us are already doing is both effective and efficient in helping our students access the academic content.

This course reaffirmed the practices I utilized in many therapy sessions over the years (before I retired) of using children’s books as one of my main sources of therapy tools and how much enjoyment I received out of designing target objectives to meet the goals as well as the children learning necessary skills. It served as a good refresher as well as presented inspiring ideas on how to expand on the activities when using books. Thank you for this opportunity to learn!
