Practical strategies to implement in the schools. It is a reality of what SLPs are dealing with in the schools. The presenter was excellent in how she presented and how she gave examples of real situations in the classroom.

Ali Solberg's experience and success with setting up classroom lessons in the 5 areas discussed instill confidence to be able to make changes despite the time and effort needed to impact the positive long-term outcome (student success and reduced referrals).

The general framework of providing whole group lessons, especially all of the initiatives at the high school level were interesting to hear about. However, there was little information in the way of actually implementing them. What did the literacy lessons entail? In IL there is a SEL curriculum and social workers often provide whole group lessons and small group for at risk students. I'm unsure how to go from here for my bilingual elementary students.

Statements like, "They're not mine, they're not on my caseload" and all of this work was "in addition to therapy" sounds like this was a lot of extra work setting up programs that were experimental in nature and at the very end of an 1.5 hr presentation, we found out that several of the idea trials failed and were discontinued.

I really enjoyed all of the different ideas and suggestions this SLP made regarding how to meet students needs in different ways than just one on one therapy. I wish we could do that in schools, but unfortunately with high caseloads that just isn't possible. It was helpful to see that there are different ways we can see students that will support them and not overwhelm SLPS that have large caseloads.

I don't feel this course was a "school SLP survival guide." The suggested initiatives, while beneficial, often went beyond the already extreme expectations and requirements of school SLPs. Yes, long term it may reduce overall caseloads but the presenter did not talk much about *how* to begin to implement these initiatives with the negative hours available after all other requirements. I also felt it focused too much on the secondary population without that being disclosed ahead of time.

No fault of presenter but I've been doing this for years. Of course, I can always learn something new. I liked the idea of using local universities. I usually worked within the environment, which did include high schools so I had plenty of high schooler help.I was very distracted by the presenters poor grammatical skills, and rather surprised. Pronoun and adverb misuage, syntactical errors, subject verb disagreement. I know grammar has taken a dive in our culture but I didn't expect that here
