I am always requesting more education on stuttering because I don't have many children on my caseload that stutter, but when I do I want to feel prepared to assess and treat them. I appreciated the conversation regarding bilingual language learners and feel more prepared to have a well rounded assessment and treatment approach

Diversity in the USA on the rise is important! Several comments that were too vague. 1) assess all languages by the pws. Many Indian children understand but do not regularly speak the parents tongue, 2) when SLPs see word changing, they best be able to diagnose tension and know it's stuttering, 3) SSI comment: "if you use the SSI type the test is inappropriate" That damns the SLP and the report, 4) is the OASES test valid?, 5) if the CARE model doesn't treat stuttering, tie in the relevance

This course was excellent! I have taken numerous courses about the topic of culturally diverse assessment and treatment of speech and language skills but this is the first course I've taken about the topic of cultural diversity and the impact on stuttering. This presenter did a fabulous job presenting the information in a respectful manner. I will highly recommend this course to my colleagues.

I think the content is very important because it fills a knowledge gap for most SLPs in how cultural and linguistic diversity influences speech fluency and how we should most accurately assess and diagnose stuttering in children who are CLD. While I know quite a bit about assessment and treatment of SI (arctic) and LI in CLD children, my knowledge of stuttering in this population was more limited.
