This was one of the best continuing education courses I've ever taken! I am working with middle and high school students who have autism and I was frustrated by the goals that targeted nonautistic social communiation. I highly recommend this course to anyone working with children with autism.

It is time to validate autistic individuals and stop forcing them to camouflage who they are to make neurotypical people less uncomfortable around them. When we teach people to honor and accept the differences in others we all grow. This is the lesson the instructor is teaching the teachers. Bravo.

This course validated the reason I left the school district to take a job as an assistant director for an Autism Program. It is not healthy to try and change autistic kids to what we think is "typical", but rather to support them!

Required course! This validated an assumption of mine, contrary to the behaviorist supremacy in the program with its emphasis upon externals and conformity, during the 14 years I worked in a county ASD program . . . and added so much more to that, that I wish I could go back, further change my practice, and change more inherited goals! Thank you for this compelling course. The world is changing. I'm willing to try to keep up, and I'm so glad.

I am so glad that I chose this course today! The information has been, and will be invaluable to my future therapy. I was in an IEP meeting for a 5th grader who had recently been rated as mildly impaired in pragmatic knowledge and use and I suggested no further pragmatic therapy was needed. The pushback was incredible to the point of rudeness toward me as an SLP. My intution was telling what this course has taught me. I will be sharing and educating and implementing everything!

I felt that there should have been more of the presentation discussing the samples they took in the research- for example, how old were the participants in the study? Did they have other comorbidities such as ADD or ADHD or intellectual disability, what of their communication competency, same race and culture? How was ethnicity not a factor that was explored? Also the so called masking goals seemed like a strawman argument- they were simply bad goals across the board or were too vague.
