The material was very comprehensive but mildly confusing if you don't have a lot of prior continuing education in reading comprehension. It might have been more effective to split it into 3 sessions (as opposed to 2).

The course emphasized critical connections between oral and written language abilities, supported by well-established models like the “sound/word and sentence/discourse with memory” framework. This perspective helped deepen understanding of how phonological awareness, word recognition, and language comprehension interact to support reading success.

Reading comprehension is so important and I recognize the role the SLP can play in supporting it. It frustrates me that despite the research out there, leveled readers and alphabetic reading levels are still used. The simplistic view of the reading rope definitely makes the information more digestible, and perhaps an easier buy-in for all educational stakeholders involved to move towards research supported strategies.
