I am very impressed with another high- powered course from this author. Very important information for SLP's to share and hopefully it will impact the wrong direction education is going in our society. I am witnessing the ridiculous amount of screen time in my grandson's second grade classroom. He is now demonstrating impulsive hyperactivity and is getting behind in reading. He had a language enriched environment but screen time was too detrimental, I believe.

I love how the presenter explains so clearly how play contributes to literacy. Play is becoming absent in many of my younger classrooms. Conversely, the reading scores are plummeting. This information will be very helpful when working with many of the students on my caseload. I pictured 5 of my students as she discussed the importance of play and conversation. I will be incorporating more of these in my therapy. Regarding decontextualized questioning, I now know why one of my students never answers those types of questions. He is not at that level yet, but I know how to get him there. I am so thankful for all of this information and the research that backs it.

Very good delivery of research and real examples. This would be an outstanding training for PK teachers and SLPs to take together. The collaboration outside of the classroom is so vital to increasing play with the language interaction overlaid. The time that our SLPs are in the PK classroom is not sufficient to get the number of turns needed and to model for PK teachers and paras how to increase the language of play, ask questions that stimulate conversations and enhance story telling.

What I liked best about this course is that Mrs. Angie Neal included new data regarding the use of social media/screen time and how it influences children's academic success. I also liked that she supports play in schools and has research to prove that if play is implemented, that children will be more successful long-term. Play promotes executive functioning and that is a key factor with all types of development (e.g., cognitive, motor, etc.).
