This course was far too data driven, and spent very little time of recommending how to apply the information for the SLPs. I would have loved to have been given recommendations on play based activities, and the appropriate language to use with it. Instead, this course focused more on literacy and its data, than it actually did on the “play” time that the title lists.

I've provided speech and language services in the preschool for over 25 years and have watched the shift away from play, conversation and reading to preschoolers. As teachers came and went, I emphasized the importance of play and created monthly thematic play centers based on a story for each month. This information will be instrumental in providing research-based evidence of why we have to fight to keep play in our preschool classrooms.

The instructor brought so much additional knowledge to the subject matter to go along with the information contained in the powerpoint. She consistently provided examples to help clarify what we could learn from each topic and she explained how each of the topics related to the overarching themes of the course. Everything had citations from current research to back them up and the information was presented in a way that made it easy to grasp. Overall, a very excellent course and presenter.
