Learning through play is important. Development of phonemes, reading, conversation helps develop language, reading and comprehension. Not just reading to reading with intent. Ask literal WH-Q's then for more advance questions, ask non literal questions. As development progresses they will be answer in details, and will be able to predict the story. Tech or devices are detrimental for development. The importance of conversation is the key!
