I can't help but wonder if a course like this is contributing to, and promoting generational stereotyping. Labeling or color coding groups of people by birth date, instead of other labels like race or gender is still highlighting differences promotes exclusion. My grandmother often made comments about "the younger generation." We're all aware of differences even if we can't articulate them. I hope future presentations will reframe the topic to highlight similarities between the generations.

I loved the content and thought it was really interesting to learn about the generations but it really doesn't have all that much to do with my work. I'm sure I learned information that will make me a better educator; however, compared to the amount I learn in other courses, this wasn't as much. It was very interesting though.

While I agree with the definitions of these “generations” these are generalized and not how individual people react - everyone is their own individual. Additionally, just because these life events/markers happened during my generation does not mean that’s what formed who I am (for example, I was born smack in the middle of Gen X, however, the only one of these events that I recall is at the very end of the bracket - 1980, when John Lennon was shot).
