I didn't quite agree with the research of each Generational Style. The presenter was well versed and prepared but the information I feel is questionable.

Ponderous. The instructor read the slides aloud and changed a few words. I found the information to be very stereotyping and did not discuss factors that would cause someone to be more, or less, typical of their "generation" (for example, individuals born on the cusp of the next generation would be more heavily influenced by those sociological trends and forces). It might have been helpful to prioritize and illustrate the major forces that influenced the specific generations. Word salad.

The instructor provides the listener with detailed characteristics of the different generations in the workforce for 2020 through 2025. Discussions for success for traditionalists, baby boomers, generation X, millennials and generation z were noted. Specific strategies for team leaders were noted in detail and the advice for harmony and success for an intergenerational work group was very well detailed. Enjoyed the brain color test!

This information can be helpful, but I also feel that individuals within specific generations should not be lumped together as a single-minded statistic. No every individual from each generation relates or acts in similar ways.

Good information though more acknowledgement of individual variation would be good - I think the brain colors was part of that. I got question 3 wrong about %workforce in 2020, but the graph supports my answer. I would've thought Gen x was correct but graph shows Gen X 32% and Boomers 33%. I question how well the speaker was familiar with the data. Maybe she was just tired, but she misread words in some of the slides and seemed to get generations mixed up a couple of times. Sorry!

I am turning 62, so a BB. I am now working with so many individuals who are generations after mine, and their attitudes and ideals ARE different; yet we must work together! So it is important that I respect and admire the strengths and the knowledge that Gen X, Millenials/Y, and Z/2020 bring to the workforce! Also I will be supervising a clinical fellow this year so it will help me be a better coach to meet her needs!

(1) There is a mistake on the answer key - according to the handout's table on page 3, BOOMERS make up 33% of the workforce in 2020, whereas Gen Y (Millennials) make up 31%. So I chose A, Boomers, but the answer key says it's C, Millennials. 31% is not more than 33%.(2) Some industries' communication strategies are more generation-bound than others (e.g. at very big tech companies. the Gen X style drives communication; in education, Gen Y).
