This course will provide a language therapy toolkit refresher for SLPs who work with students from preschool to elementary school. The role of the SLP in literacy, background information on the nature of reading, specific interventions for both preschool and elementary school, and ways to maximize motivation and develop rapport with this population will be discussed.
Please note: This course is also available as part of a 3-hour series, "From Preschool to High School: Language and Literacy Toolkit for SLPs". By completing this course, you will NOT be eligible to complete the 3-hour series for CEU credit.

Jennifer Whited, PhD, CCC-SLP is an assistant professor and clinical supervisor in the Speech-Language Pathology Program at the University of Louisiana - Monroe. She teaches in the areas of literacy impairment, infant language, professional issues and adult neurological disorders. Dr. Whited is the director of the Community Literacy Project at ULM, which is a special research project that serves Monroe area students, schools and parents to support individuals with literacy impairments. Dr. Whited's research interests include childhood language and literacy impairment as well as aphasia in adults.
