Dr. Woods’ presentation was natural, easy going, comfortable, and confident. Her approach to sharing the information was straightforward, practical, and helpful. I think the information will be helpful for those new to these concepts as they relate to EI, as well as for those who need a refresher. It has given me ideas of new wording to use with families

It was well presented by the presenter Juliann Woods. It was easy to follow along and learn what she was teaching. She provided some really great slides that depicted what she was teaching to assist with understanding of strategies. Embedding defined, Why embed Intervention, The Family 5Q,the SS-OO-PP-PR Adult Learning and Family Guided Practices, Teaching the Learning Cycle, Responsive - Universal Learning Strategies The clarity of the slide Evidenced Based Intervention Strategies was poor.

As an early interventionist, I found it very beneficial to learn and think about more embedded coaching in a variety of life activities (I agree with the presenter that we tend as SLPs to focus on play but that is just a portion of a child’s day). Really thinking about functional communication across the day and how to successfully coach parents is the best way in EI!

The presentation targeted the principles of early intervention. Empowering the parent to interact with their child. Using the everyday routines for language opportunities. I liked the questions and answers. ST usually are play based. It takes coaxing and encouraging for the parent to take the lead role even when it's explained that the parent is more motivating for interactions.

Unfortunately, it was hard to continue to concentration to the instructor during this course because the background noise was quite audible. It sounded like she was shifting papers or moving items around and it was very distracting. I had a very difficult time listening to her while also having to hear all of the shuffling noises. I stayed with the course because I was already 15 minutes in when I realized that it was coming from her recording.
