All companies should see mental health disorders as a serious barrier for their employees, and seek to help them, not break them down further. Unfortunately most just say they believe in helping their employees, but push them out at the first sign of "being difficult," even when it's a mental health issue and not a motivation or work ethic issue

I absolutely loved this course. This course touched me because I work with individuals in my business and in my neighbourhood who have mental health issues. The teacher made the information relatable and easy to understand. I feel empowered to control my own emotions through self-reflection and in using the tools that she gave.I have a clear understanding that I need to arrest some of my faulty thoughts and use the tools that Dr. Holmes- Walker provided. Using inappropriate or biased language can negatively affect interactions with healthcare professionals. It’s important to recognize how bias and implicit bias can influence communication, access, treatment, and outcomes. It also very important to remember the importance of focusing on equity rather than equality, and how this distinction impacts the care our patients receive. Self-reflection is a good way to identify and eliminate implicit bias.
