The speaker sharing her personal experience with being a member of the team on both sides (parent and professional). It really helped shape the perspective as she was explaining the concepts. As a SLPA, I feel like I gained confidence in communicating with parents in clinical and early intervention settings when they have comments/concerns about therapy practices.

I haven't seen a course on this before. As an SLP working in the schools, collaboration is a huge part of my job. It is always good to have a reminder that we don't always know what is going on in someone else's life. Knowing how to communicate in many different situations is always helpful.

This course was informative and offered suggestions on how to approach sticky conversations. As an early intervention provider, I am oftentimes the one initiating difficult conversations such as making a referral to another professional due to lack of progress or red flags suggesting further evaluation (i.e., Autism, developmental delay, etc). I feel more confident approaching these conversations.

This is an important topic in our field, because trying to help people make positive changes in their lives brings up complex issues. The presenter of this course was able to give a broad-based description of aspects that can help or hinder the process. This presenter's own personal family experience has sensitized her to be an excellent teacher of the family-centered approach.
