As a post-acute rehabilitation SLP, I continue to find the topic of neuroplasticity not only interesting, but important. As a clinician, understanding, at the very least, the fundamentals is critical in truly grasping the journey of ABI recovery. In addition, to be able to educate survivors of CVA and TBI and their family members on this topic provides a sense of hope and understanding to this journey. This course continues to enhance my knowledge so I can be better in both of these aspects.

Absolutely fascinating to look at the evidence around the standard picture naming and decontextualized activates many of us were taught in school and clinicals and how those activities don't typically happen in real life. More contextualized tasks make so much more sense and will likely be more motivating for the client. Good to see the research behind it.

The subject matter was explained in detail. Definitions were given for Neuroplasticity and all the relevant vocabulary. Important facts were mentioned such as we are changing our brains when we change our activities/habits. This should be kept in mind more when working with individuals. The info given on BDNF-Brain Derived Neurotrophic Factor was great! This chemical helps to grow neurons. The course noted that we can help increase BDNF levels by certain things-cognitive + other activities.
