My take away from this course will be to continue to focus on patients speech/language/communication goals within their everyday environment. For example, use cooking activities that will focus on vocabulary, following directions, sequencing and conversational skills. I believe these activities will be highly motivating for my patients and will increase generalization skills. I also like to co-treat with occupational and physical therapists during cooking and community based outings.

This was a fascinating topic and made easy to understand . I will keep it and review it over and over again to internalize my understanding and ability to communicate this to other professionals, patients, and family members. Isn't interesting how patients often learn by copying a particular physical activity yet many of our speech therapy tasks due not have a demonstrated activity to facilitate the learning process.

Thank you for an amazing and informative presentation! I knew my original education/training was not fully accurate regarding adult brain plasticity. I always cringed at being told there was no more room for improvement in brain healing and recapturing of skills after 6-months. Especially when my speech apraxia patients were coming back several years later after having "breakthroughs" in their speech-motor skills.
