This course was nice in that it provided good, topical examples of how to target such a fundamental language skill in a functional, entertaining way. I particularly feel that the non-restrictive approach was very useful.

Her animation in presenting the material as it kept the listener engaged in learning! Loved her definition and supporting information of the importance of joint attention especially in sharing with parents. Ideas for embedding suggested activities into fun/functional therapy excellent s well as not insisting that the child be stationary or forced to return if attention drifts shortly. Also great explanation on data collection and where to seek IEP goals if needed.

This course was very good because it clearly explained the importance of joint attention in early communication and provided practical, easy-to-implement strategies for promoting it in therapy sessions. The conversational podcast format made the content engaging and relatable, and I appreciated the focus on supporting both children and families in naturalistic settings.

Sometimes as a therapist we second guess ourselves and wonder if we are doing the right activities to engage a child, especially a child on the spectrum. It is always nice to remember to take a step if needed when children do not seem engaged and work on joint attention such as with those kids that prefer isolated play and lining toys up.

This course was a review of the practices I already use and know, which repetition is also beneficial. This is an excellent course for beginning Speech Therapists or those who might not naturally know to use simple language, literacy, songs, animated vocal inflection, and toys to hold a child's attention. The presenter did an outstanding job of holding my attention during this session!

This was good information. These are things I have been doing and focusing on for a long time. I hadn't actually thought of them as joint attention. I thought of them as building reciprocity and following the child's lead though I certainly see how they are related. I tend to think of eye gaze shift between objects and people as a marker for joint attention. I was thinking the course would talk about how to elicit or build eye gaze communication during shared activities.
