This course describes how SLPs can utilize functional goals and language-based activities to incorporate key components of the Montessori philosophy into therapy with older adults.

Jennifer Brush, MA, CCC/SLP, Director, Brush Development is a Fulbright Specialist, researcher, award-winning dementia care author and healthcare consultant located in northeast Ohio. Jennifer also serves as Program Director, Montessori Education for Dementia St. Nicholas Montessori College Ireland. Jennifer is an inaugural member of the Association Montessori International (AMI) Advisory Board for Montessori for Dementia and Aging. She was one of the first three AMI Certified Trainers for Montessori for Dementia and Aging in the world, as well as the first in the US.
Julia Johnson, MS, CCC/SLP, Program Manager at Brush Development has over 15 years of experience in long term care settings. She has extensive experience working with cognitive-language disorders affecting the adult and geriatric populations. She is a university guest lecturer and has spoken nationally on interdisciplinary approaches to dementia care management for increasing awareness and involvement for caregivers and practitioners.
