Play-Based Treatment: Basic Strategies for Exceptional Instruction

Using fun activities in a treatment session is a great way to increase student investment and participation. However, the “fun” must be connected to the targeted skill in a way that will aid in meaningful learning. In the course Play-Based Treatment: Basic Strategies for Exceptional Instruction, Meredith Poore Harold, PhD, CCC-SLP teaches SLPs how to use structured and purposeful play strategies to enhance their therapy sessions for achievement and generalization. If you work with preschool or school-age children, be sure to check out this 3.5 hour course! It’s getting rave reviews from our members:

“Excellent and practical course. The presentation was very thorough and covered all aspects of play-based treatment.”

“...this course was excellent in demonstrating the importance of play-based therapy and gave great ideas on how to approach different issues and use play to target these issues.”

“Great examples of structured play-based therapy. Valuable course with many practical applications.”

RTI and Common Core State Standards

Learn how a Response to Intervention (RTI) model for language in kindergarten and preschool can guide schools to incorporate Common Core Standards in our video course Language RTI & Common Core: Using a Universal Language Benchmarking Process. Presenters Angela Anthony, MA, CCC-SLP and Jennifer Preschern, PhD, CCC-SLP, discuss assessment and intervention at all three tiers of RTI as well as the use of RTI to differentiate English Language Learners (ELL) from children with speech/language impairment.
