I can apply this material in my teaching styles at school and also as parents of 2 GEN Y children. I now realize that not everything that these kids do is wrong, because it is not what I did as a GEN X, but that they can use the skills that they have and apply them in very constructive ways in society.

The presenter was well informed on the subject, and she backed up her statements with empirical evidence. She's given us a wake up call to move away from an educational model developed for the baby boomers. We were taught not to use a calculator because the belief was it would not be available in the "real world." Technology has far exceeded the wildest expectations of the Greatest Generation.

Honestly...all I could think of was my son who is 19. All of the things that he is going through, how he learns, and so much more. I'm actually an older Mom and so a Boomer (which I hear all the time from him!). It really made me think about altering some of my approaches with kiddos now in terms of some activities.
