I feel that the presenter organized the info very well. I appreciated the explanation of the various mental health disorders how how the presenter indicated how different conditions co-exist. As I have family members affected by somer of these conditions, I can relate. I feel that every SLP contemplating working with older adults should take coursework like this. I would also extend that to all SLP populations.

I enjoyed the detailed descriptions of the different types of mental health disorders that are commonly found in the aging population and when to be concerned about the presence of depression, anxiety, etc. This course will help me to be more vigilant about mental health symptoms during my work with people living with dementia and their care partners and will likely increase how frequently I refer my clients to a social worker or mental health professional.

I work in home health, this course highlighted my role in identification of need for possible screening/intervention. The risk and compounding factors were outlined very well. Even though I feel like I have been exposed to much of this information throughout my 31 years in practice, this was a great summary of so much important information. Thanks so much!

Our presenter gave an important, well-balanced presentation packed full of high content information. Many of the symptoms mentioned in the content (such as hoarding) are not exclusive to seniors. A clearer association of symptoms and aging could be clarified. When dealing with social worker support, it may be helpful to consider that social workers have a clearly defined role that provides very specific services. Fortunately, most social workers practice within the scope of their profession.

Often times the physical health of older individuals is addressed & the accompanying mental health issues are ignored or not assessed. The older population can experience bereavement, isolation, loneliness, financial hardship, and fears that adversely affect their mental health & sense of well-being. This course provided an excellent overview of this information.
