SLP is warranted only if the child's impairment directly affects their educational performance. As a result, it doesn't always have to be the SLP to address the students impairment, for example, teachers, and other staff members might be able to address the impairment(s). This would enable other students who really qualify for speech services to receive them. Also the use of culturally responsive assessment practices can help differentiate language disorders from language differences.

We have so many speech referrals before our district properly implements MTSS supports and gathers data. I am hoping I can get a few SLPs to help me create a presentation about this.
