I attended as a person with tinnitus and didn't think there would be any application to my work in schools. However, the prevalence of the problem over all but also in children and teens gives cause for consideration of possible impact on younger persons.

Such a fascinating and interesting course. The presenter was obviously experienced, passionate and his delivery was very effective. Even though this was focused on teenagers, it was applicable to other ages as well. Incorporating the pharmacological side of treatment was also very interesting. Great course!

I have had tinnitus since I was in my early 20s. I've always slept with the fan on - without it, I wouldn't get as good of sleep as I do. I've never had it checked -and I'm sure that I do have some hearing loss. I just haven't been ready to actually go in to get it evaluated.

My grandson has Tinnitus starting when he was in High School. They tried everything mentioned here, plus the things noted that did not work. I am glad there is thought behind the young people as well as the older people with this problem. I also have it but doesn't seem to bother me, yet, it is just there. Most of the time I don't pay attention to it. Mostly hear it when things are quiet.

He made the management approaches to tinnitus very clear!The environmental noise he created for the management of tinnitus used a combination of rain, ocean waves, and chanting of monks, which I found it very interesting!!

Excellent, clear, presentation. I took this course for my own personal situation with acquired Tinnitus due to radiation therapy for a benign tumor. I was especially interested in the treatment section. Fortunately, I am treating my tinnitus with environmental noise called a HATCH used to for babies to sleep. The white noise relieves the symptoms for sleep. Also, I had no idea about asking my students if tinnitus was an issue for them unless they were hearing impaired.

This and other pain disorders are widely misunderstood yet important topics for clinicians to understand. It devastates the people suffering with the condition. I want to be a part of helping people find the support they need to deal with these issues. I had a loved one experience another pain disorder. It was so difficult to find help. The seemingly paradoxical idea that in order to no longer feel the discomfort you need to sort of not care is so difficult to grasp yet has profound implications

I work with adolescents, almost all of which wear constant headphones or earbuds. We do not have an audiologist on staff, so SLPs do all bearing screens. This gives me a better leg to stand on when recommending a referral out of our facility.
