I used this at a staff meeting with some of our school-age teachers and it sparked some great discussion regarding one teacher's frustration for getting her group of 4th and 5th grade students (all of whom have identified language-based learning disabilities) to listen to each other's stories during peer editing in order to give feedback. The practical ideas you gave, including the amended graphic organizers and the idea of Author's Chair, were especially helpful.

This course was excellent because it provided clear, practical strategies for targeting language expression through narrative-based interventions. The use of writing labs and scaffolded supports was easy to understand and directly applicable to classroom and clinical settings. The presenter explained developmental levels of storytelling in a way that made it easy to identify and support student needs.

Opened my eyes to how impactful and important the social interaction part of writing is for both the writer (conveying a narrative, reflecting on feedback) and the audience (hearing the narrative, providing feedback). It was also very helpful to have examples of scaffolding at all levels / components of writing.
