This course was excellent because it clearly connected evidence-based principles—such as complexity, cueing, distributed practice, and caregiver involvement—to practical speech sound intervention strategies. The explanations of DTTC and activity-based intervention helped translate theory into effective, real-world clinical practice.

I did not enjoy the presenter's teaching style nor did I agree with some of her strategies. From what I have learned about motor planning, the more, accurate trials we can get in in a session, the better. The sessions shared during the course did not appear to target multiple, accurate trials.

This course made all of Kelly's previous courses wrap up in a nice way to address more speech sound disorders in addition to the previously taught language, special population, and executive functioning disorders. I didn't have to take the last 2 hours of CEUs,s but I wanted to know what else Kelly had to teach on the subject.

I love her teaching style and her explanations. I still feel like I need to see how she teaches all the initial words for the sentences and paragraphs. I also want to see how she choses targets and how that plays into stimulability and knowing when to shelf it. I'd love to know what she does for a severely apraxic kiddo who only says "du." It took me 9 months to get to say even "bu & mu."

Great information. I just have one comment to make regarding information given. Kelly made a comment about a child with ASD who had gone through speech therapy using these techniques. She went on to say that the child had improved so much that they no longer had the ASD diagnosis. IF a child is truly autistic then improving their speech/language skills will not make it go away, it will just improve their ability to communicate effectively. I'm wondering if that child had been misdiagnosed.

There was a lot of good information presented; however, there were some recommendations that I think are incorrect. For example, segmenting words/sounds and aspirating stop consonants (when the presenter discussed using the phrase "Look at") are two strategies that are setting children up for learning incorrect motor plans. Children with autism frequently have motor planning difficulties, and this is not helpful.
