This is Part 4 of a four-part series. This course describes five maxims of evidence-based practice for speech sound disorders. Specifically, it discusses how to create optimally effective therapy sessions by incorporating multimodal cueing, errorless scaffolding, complex treatment targets, distributed learning, and activity-based intervention within the context of movement activities.

Kelly Vess is the author of “Speech Sound Disorders: Comprehensive Evaluation and Treatment” (2021, Thieme), which has over 120 best practice assessment and therapy video clips. She is a full-time pediatric SLP, off-campus clinical supervisor, and researcher with 19 years of experience.
Kelly researches best practices in assessment and intervention at the preschool level, which she presents annually at ASHA’s national conferences. This research is freely available on ResearchGate.
