I speaker was very knowledgable and had experience with her husband, in this area. I have a student that I thought may have had a seizure a couple weeks ago. I contacted her mother and expressed my concern. Her mother stated that they had concerns she may have seizures, but had not observed any, at that time. After listening to this webinar, I am convinced that the child had a seizure.

I have a patient who is 10 and has epilepsy. I had a consultation with his mom today and I was telling her that he sometimes get flat affect and becomes unresponsive for a short time during the session before he snaps right out of it and then immediately responds to my questions. She wondered if those episodes could be seizures. I was so glad to find this course to help me understand what I might be seeing. Thank you!

Seizure and epilepsy definitions have changed over time. Too many school staff members are not up-to-date with identification and treatment of seizure disorders. Every school district in every state should require mandatory professional education on the different types of seizures and treatment.
