I love this topic and loved how the information was presented with both pros and cons. I have a young child of my own, and while I have always thought that I didn't want to allow screen time, this gave me "evidence" as to why. I can also use this knowledge in my practice when I work with my high-needs kids who seem to be OBSESSED with screen time.

This course provided great talking points when discussing screen time with parents. I appreciate it discussed not only the time a child is in front of a screen, but also the impact of the parent’s screen use while acknowledging that in todays world no screen time isn’t realistic for the majority of families. The ideas on how to reduce screen time were helpful as some parents really struggle in this area and perhaps giving them these tips may help.

I have a 13-month-old who is being raised in a bilingual household. I work from home doing teletherapy so sometimes I put on "Ms. Rachel" so he can watch her but I realize that may not be helpful at all. He is only saying 1 word and will gesture and point so I am not too worried but still, I want to make sure we are interacting with him more and not using the TV anymore. Thank you for teaching me something I wasn't sure about. Great presentation!

The information and statistics regarding autism were very helpful in understanding the complexities that are involved in an autism diagnosis versus the development of autistic-like characteristics. Currently I see so much impact on children's development of language and articulation, you can almost easily pin point which kids have healthy interactions and exposure with adults versus the kiddos who have been sat in front of a screen so parents can have peace and quiet. This is why I have my therapy sessions full of hands-on activities and fun board/card games!
