The presenter was clear and comprehensive in this course. She cited a variety of interesting studies focusing on Beta Amyloid and Tau proteins relative to cognitive or brain reserve. She provided helpful information regarding building cognitive reserve. Finally, she related interventions to facilitate cognitive reserve which could be provided by Speech Pathology and/or Occupational therapy.

The presenter was extremely knowledgeable about this topic and broke down the information as she presented it with relevant slides. The research studies were very helpful to support the information about resilience, cognitive reserve, the importance of sleep, exercise, and socialization as it relates to protective factors for delaying progression of Alzheimer's Dementia. She provided good information for all people to know as they enter into their senior years.

Loved this course. I'm trying to learn more about demenia to better assist my father who was diagnosed a few years ago. Sadly, he is stubborn and won't engage socially with others, refuses to do any form of phyisical "exercise", and won't participate in any additional cognitive activities such as puzzles, word finds, etc. I found the correlation between cognition, education, brain size, et all, absolutely fascinating as was presented. Some fascinating info and research.

Instructor did a great job of linking the theory with real-world, evidence based strategies. Research presented to support that physically active older adults have lower incidences of dementia and how sleep behavior (normal vs. disturbed) impacts individuals with dementia which is useful to therapists as well as caregivers and families of those individuals.

I am in the age group representing this article. Though I'm an active person, I have been actively working to establish regular sleep patterns. I have found the most restorative sleep is a completely dark room with a sound of the ocean waves. There can be not bird sounds. Only the waves. This sleeping adjustment has helped me so very much.

Love it when presenters break down the research and give us specific activities for those of us out in the field to immediately implement in the real world. Thank you! Theory in to practice makes our jobs easier. We show up to work with extremely high productivity expectations and it’s nice when y’all give us specific evidence-based activities that don’t require us to take the theory and creatively think of appropriate activities on top of all the other responsibilities we are tackling.
