I love the neuroanatomy reviews, because this is an area with which I struggle. I also love that this instructor pointed out that she has struggled, too, and she didn't make me feel dumb for struggling. This presentation was good, but it fell into the same hole that most neuro presentations fall into. There is so much information, and she tried to present as much as she could within an hour. I'd like to see slower-paced reviews in the future.

This was a very good review of neuroanatomy for SLP's which presented more information than was available when I had learned about neuroanatomy many years ago. The dual stream concepts for language production, comprehension, and prosody were new concepts for me and provide a good explanation for how the various areas of the brain are not isolated in their function. The colorful slides were so helpful for identifying the various parts and areas of the brain and the cerebrovascular system.

I enjoyed the presenter's teaching style and how she compared brain pathways to the telephone connector. It was refreshing learning about the areas of the brain and how stroke survivors are affected. I appreciated the presenter mentioning that just because one area of the brain is damaged, doesn't necessarily mean they will have that specific type of aphasia.

Very insightful course demonstrating how the importance of speech and language processing relies on an extensive cortical network and that any damage to a component of this network can result in difficulty with communication. The dorsal stream is motor speech-driven, whereas speech comprehension relies much more on the ventral stream. The location of the damage, both structural and physiological determines the pattern of speech and language impairment.
