More factual information should've been included as to what is ethically required. A lot of focus on challenging anecdotal experiences, but doesn't really add to the overall idea of navigating through the actual IEP. When challenges happen in meetings, what is legally allowable? When is it appropriate to table a meeting and reschedule? We all want to get through the meeting without extraordinary measures, but I find most SLPs are misinformed that it should be mutually respectful, not one sided.

This was one of the best courses I have ever taken in general but in particular regarding IEPs and Ethics. Rose was an excellent presenter who provided examples, application, and basis of information to support the ethics associated with IEPs and SLPs professionally. I especially loved a quote she used at the end when answering questions posed. She said "We should feel safe and supported at work." I think it's important we surround ourselves with others we can collaborate alongside!

Ms. Griffin clearly knew her subject material. All of the learning outcomes were overed by Ms. Griffin's research and use of personal examples and years of experience. I especially liked her idea to make the IEP meeting feel comfortable and safe for all participants by having a welcoming speech. Ethically navigating IEP meetings makes such a difference especially in those tense IEP meetings with lawyers and I appreciate Ms. Griffin's guidelines.

As a retired speech pathologist, I can vouch oh yes some IEP’s can be traumatic Luckly Most of the schools that I was assigned to wereSupportive of their special ed providers. The worst was when the parent or advocate was verbally abusive and the IEP chairperson who was running the meeting didn’t do anything to stop it. I had one IEP chairperson who stopped the meeting but he was ex military so he wasn’t taking any abuse from anyone. I liked working for him.
