I liked her tips for setting a positive tone in IEP meetings, greeting parents, making eye contact, pausing to give them time to share how they're feeling, using an agenda, welcome sign. And to know who will be attending the meeting, in case you need to invite a supervisor to support you.

It was a good refresher on how to conduct IEP meeting mindfully and inclusively. It was a good reminder on little things like showing empathy, establishing an inclusive and professional tone at the beginning, excluding jargon, know who will be present and if you need district admin support, and including baseline data. It also included good tips on preparing for IEP meetings such as rehearsing your part, having visuals.

This would be a great course for a recent graduate SLP, as it was mentioned there is not a lot of training on this topic. I'm 24 years in the field so a lot of the information wasn't new, but confirms the things I have been doing as well as my district. My favorite point of hers was to move on if you do not feel safe. This is something that is not talked about enough.

Presenter was engaging and gave some good "food for thought." I can't recall if this was listed as a beginner or intermediate course but I would list it as beginner. I thought some of the advice could be district specific such as sending home a draft or making sure the director of SPED was invited to certain meetings. This would not happen in my district.
