It was a refreshing reminder of how to stimulate learning in dementia. Although I have used many of these techniques, there are times when I need a reminder .

The instructor spent too much time on the background of Montessori method and not enough on the application. She is also not a live presenter, sharing resources, etc. She isn't on the screen at all, just adds her voice as she goes through the slides so it isn't that engaging.

I have been volunteering in a nursing home, and I have inherently used many of these practices while there. I am not there as an SLP, but all my prior training is in play as I volunteer. In fact a caretaker told me we couldn’t adapt the activities to make it work for everyone, but I showed we could. I also have them doing more for themselves, when they usually had I done for them. And their engagement has gone up 100%.

This course was very interesting, the material was clear, and the presenter was engaging. There were many good ideas of practical application to caregiving and providing meaning activity for adults with dementia.
