Enjoyed this course! Presenter's style of speaking, knowledge, & examples and sharing of her experiences were conducive to learning. The information in this course validates my belief & practice in using external aids. It gave me a road map for better implementation of strategies that will be helpful in my clinical practice as well as with my family, friends, and myself as we navigate our elder years and declining memory. Thank you for this course.

I appreciated the focus on using internal and external memory strategies, even with milder MCI patients. I absolutely loved the example of how to redirect and educate a "quizzing partner" on the benefits of reinforcing use of memory aids and providing errorless learning. I laughed aloud when the instructor said "Hope is not a strategy" and I plan to pirate that line! I loved her suggestions on how to incorporate holistic treatment strategy education into specific memory tasks.

The first part about the course that was excellent was the use of case studies because it is easy to sit and listen to information; it is another thing to apply it. The second part about the course that was excellent was talking about others involved in the patient's care (i.e. spouse) and how they can affect the sessions. I had a similar situation to where a spouse was constantly quizzing the patient and become upset when the patient did not know the answer. This helped me to know what to do.

Ms Gallaher related the research to live clinical scenarios. She gave functional examples of how to implement the precepts of cognitive rehabilitation into our clinical practice for our patients and their families. Ms Gallaher also made the research accessible by keeping it simple and using repetition. She also used a bit of humor, as well.
