I thought the final part about assessing reaction times, cognitive flexibility, working memory, ability to switch attention and visual-spacial skills to distinguish MCI from healthy aging was particularly interesting. I also appreciated the information about diabetes and how it places us at risk for MCI and dementia, both in terms of long term chronic "brain assault" and in terms of hypoglycemic "hits".

I thought the lecturer provided robust evidence from the research and tied the research to the practice. I do wish there was more time spent on treatment approaches for the different subtypes of MCI. I do feel the overview at the beginning of part 2 and part 3 was not necessary as that information was given in part 1 and that would have left more time for treatment.

I was skeptical of the research, based on the cited references. My Ph.D. was through a neuroscience program. As such, it appeared that the presentation was not appropriate for most SLPs whose ASHA sanctioned cousework does not include biochemistry, neurobiology, physiology, or pharmacology. There were 23 references to executive function and association to selected SLP outcomes (if true). There were too many references to "the research shows..." Neuroscience is a way of thinking, not a title.
