The presenter made clear the points which might have been difficult to understand by giving real life examples of how our nervous system works both internally and with the environment to bring about physiological changes in our bodies. This includes the main three responses of our bodies, parasympathetic, sympathetic, and the freeze phase. I understand all of these states of being now where before my knowledge of these states was a bit cloudy. I liked the small breaks she recommended to reset.

Really interesting topic! I work in acute care and especially appreciated the tips on managing the stress and trauma that I hear of through my patient interactions. There are certainly days when patient situations have me in a fight or flight headspace for much of my workday. I now have some ideas for how to stay more grounded and hopefully avoid burnout. And these things can benefit my clients as well!

Overall, I enjoyed the course. It reinforced and refreshed much that I had learned over the years. As an SLP, I struggled with the example given that stuttering disappeared after appropriate trauma-informed therapy was provided. That statement was made without clarifying that emtionally-based stuttering can respond well to trauma-informed therapy but neuroligically-based therapy wont. It may give parents of children who stutter false hope that counseling alone will help therapy.
