Great information. I have been practicing for 31 years and I think perhaps I want to leave, then I don't, then I have no desire to leave, then I start thinking about it again...so this really gave me some structure with the big picture of career opportunities in our field. Thanks so much!

As a newer SLP who is on a short break from working following extreme burnout and who is nervous about returning soon, it was nice to hear from a seasoned SLP the same struggles I currently share and how she re-worked her passion and discovered new drive for the field. I enjoyed her case studies and hearing the interactive comments from live viewers.

As I reenter the field as a SLPA, I have slightly different considerations but appreciated this advice. Finding a situation that works for you in order to get a fresh start is a good idea, and there were many tips on how to match a setting for yourself. I would've liked some more specific resources, for example particular Facebook groups or particular CEU resources beyond this one. I understand that going too specific will age the course over time. What I found most helpful were the examples.

I am one of those who wish to return to the field after a seven-year career break. Today’s talk gave me a sense of comfort in realizing that I am not alone in this situation, and it also motivated me to more actively explore possible paths back. Although returning after such a long break will not be easy, I believe I should seek out a path and take on the challenge. In that sense, I am grateful for this talk.

Good description of expectations for working in different settings. Important to understand self AND settings AND population as well as WHY an SLP left the field to help decide what setting to re-enter the field. Case studies pulled it all together.

As a currently "not practicing" SLP, I really appreciated hearing other stories and knowing I'm not the only one. I had to step away because of the complete burnout and needed to find work that allowed me to pay back my extensive loans. I never let my license or CCC's lapse, so I'm hopeful one day I'll return and this content will become even more meaningful!

I stepped away from the field just after receiving my CCC’s with the intent to return at some point. I have always wanted to use my skills and talents in this field but have been intimidated by my current age, lack of knowledge about the field currently and lack of experience. I also didn’t know it was ok to want a certain schedule, environment, etc. When I was doing my C’s, it was so rigid and I didn’t realize there were actually options! This was very helpful, thank you so much!

I like that this course was based a lot on personal experience, and the problem solving that the presenter went thru to come to the best conclusion for her. Not really a course that would include a lot of studies and graphs and charts, just learning how to step back and look at what is important to each person and find the setting that works best at that time for them. I appreciate that the presenter was so open with her thoughts and the barriers that she experienced.

The course provided a lot of different setting options, allowing someone to research and decide what type of setting might be the right fit for the person based on what is going on in the individual's lives. Whether that individual was looking for a changed due to burnout of getting back into the work world.
