The presenter explains what makes data collection important when providing speech-language services. Data demonstrates the work of Speech-Language Pathology to be beneficial, effective, and necessary. Several purposes for data collection within treatment sessions are to establish baselines, to guide goal decision making, and to determine dismissal from services. Data collection methods are described and how they are helpful when explaining services to parents & teachers.

I wish more handouts were provided, but I did like some of the rubric concepts that the presenter introduced. I wish she spent more time on examples and HOW to do this effectively. I was a little confused during parts of the course. Also, she said "don't take data every session" during one part of the presentation, but then she said "have your students graph their progress at the end of EACH SESSION". So which is it?

I'm disappointed that speechpathology.com approved the content of this course. The presenter advised/encouraged the audience to do "more therapy and less data collection" and repeatedly stated that data collection is not needed during every treatment session. While that may be legal in some settings and with regard to some insurance requirements, I consider it unethical.

She made some good points however her test was poorly structured, and was the stupid kind of questions that come directly off of the handout. IE external versus internal factors is not relevant to our comprehension of the subject. It’s a predetermined and arbitrary term delineation.
