I loved! the guest and her ability to talk about her own personal experiences, as related to research, in order to discuss a very prevalent disorder. She was able to provide insight into the autistic mind from her own personal experience as an autistic individual and a mother raising a daughter with autism.

The podcast guest had a really interesting perspective and good information to share-- I sort of wish I had gotten to hear more from her about characteristics and interventions, and just her perspective as an autistic person, and less of the podcast presenter jumping in and talking a lot, though I do respect her for having someone with a different perspective than her own, on the show.

As an SLP as well as a mother of a daughter with Autism, I appreciated the frank honesty of the presenters. Not only were they informative re: current practices, but they were candid in discussing the various professional perspectives/biases and the difficulties that can often arise in treatment as a result of professional bias.

a bit too much overgeneralization about what other professionals miss or do wrong. For example, most SLP's I know would notice a girl lining up doll shoes etc. Not much in the way of what specific things to do that is new to me.

I loved the conversational format, the cross-disciplinary discussion, and the expertise of the speakers, particularly the guest. I appreciated the discussion about all of the internal “things” going on for autistic people (and we can think about this with all of clients, really) that are not seen in overt behaviors. I also loved the reminder to really think about what our clients/students want from us in terms of help, rather than imposing our agendas on them.

Rose used to be my son's SLP:) She's fantastic. This topic is so appropriate for me as the number of girls with ASD on my caseload is increasing. And I loved hearing Robin's experience in her journey with ASD (her daughter's and her own) and her thoughts on girls' experience with a negative feedback loop regarding learning social skills. I'm seeing it right now with one of my kiddos and I'm glad to say that I told this gal to look at me as a coach more than anything else:)
